I hope everyone is enjoying Tylor Hamilton and Daniel Coyle’s The Secret Race, I’m just over half way through and it’s pretty full on. A complete page turner. And it’s just in time for Lance Armstrong to enter the Oprah Winfey Thunder Dome! I hope to have my review up on Monday the 27th of January.

Moving on.

Below are a list of major sporting events happening next month. If anyone has any suggestions for other events and books then please leave a message in the comment area below. On Thursday the 24th I’ll put up the 5 nominated books for February. Then after you all vote, the chosen book will be revealed on Thursday the 31st.

Super Bowl XLVII

By February 3rd, 2 teams will have reached the Super Bowl. At the moment there’s a handful of teams still playing. On Sunday 20th January San Francisco play at Atlanta and Baltimore play at New England.

To be honest I could write everything I know about Skiing on the back of a napkin. If there are any skiing enthusiasts out there, please fill us in. Especially about what we should be putting on the bookshelves.

Rugby RBS 6 Nations

Later this year The Lions Tour travels to Australia and if you’re at all interested in what’s happening in the northern hemisphere then the RBS 6 Nations is for you. Running until March 16th the bulk of the fixtures start on February 2nd when Wales take on Ireland in the Millennium Stadium. Click here to visit the 6 Nations site to see the fixtures.

NBA All-Star Game

The votes have been counted and the 62nd NBA All-Star Game will be played in Houston on February 17th. Both sets of teams are voted by the fans and the offical starting line up will be released shortly. Have a look at the All Star Ballot here.

UCI World Track Championships

After exciting times in both the mens and ladies track competitions at the London Olmypic Games. February sees the return of all those Olympic stars at the UCI Track World Championships in Minsk, Belarus.

UEFA Champions League

No disrespect to all the footballing leagues around the world but the Champions League is the best and it’s back and I am excited! The first round of knock out games is coming soon and it’s sure to be exciting. Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo returns to his old stomping ground at Old Trafford, Celtic V Juventus, Arsenal V Bayern Munich and plenty more.

Have you some suggestions on books we should consider reading during February? Let’s remember there is also College Basketball stateside, Boxing, NBA, the Rugby Super League season starts, the Superbike World Championship starts in Australia, the African Cup of Nations Final, the Tennis Davis Cup, England travel to New Zealand for a month of Cricket, Athletic’s European Indoor trials and UK Championships.
